Slade's Cum On Feel The Noize spent four weeks at number one in Britain, until the last day of the month when a new chart brought a new number one for Donny Osmond and The Twelth Of Never.
Roberta Flack was doing well in America with her tribute to Don McClean, Killing Me Softly WIth His Song. After three weeks, she was replaced by Love Train by the O'Jays, but Roberta regained the top slot on the last day of March 1973.
The month brought the sad news of the death of Ron Pig Pen McKernan, keyboard player with the Grateful Dead.

What We Were Listening To 30 Years Ago
Abba spent the first week of March 1978 as the UK number one with Take A Chance On Me. The rest of the month belonged to Kate Bush with her debut single Wuthering Heights.
It was a good for Gibb Brothers in America. Younger brother Andy Gibb topped the Billboard charts for the first half of March 1978 with Love Is Thicker Than Water. Older brothers the Bee Gees replaced him at the top with Night Fever.
This month also saw the release of the TV movie The Rutles, a Beatles spoof masterminded by Monty Python's Eric Idle and Neil Innes of the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band .
