Late Boomers.Com - Everyone who was young in the 70s should visit this site. Writer Nancy Hill provides essential support and advice for those of us who too young to experience free love at Woodstock but were old enough to experience Thatcherism, Reaganism and curtailed rumpy-pumpy and the rediscovery of the condom ! You wore hideous fashion, you grew up with 3 day weeks and power cuts, you're a Late Boomer and it's high time you admitted it. Nancy understands and will guide you through with humour and not a single smiley face or psychedelic backdrop -(they belonged to the 60s in any case).

Pieter's Oldies Drive-In - Probably one of the best sites covering the history of pop from the 50s to the 70s.  Lots of info, photos, archives and much more.  Drive in today !

 

70s Rock Bands - strictly "no disco" according to webmaster Dan, but he does a great job of databasing the greatest rock acts of the greatest decades.  Tons of info and good stuff here !

Rubettes Page - Suzanne's excellent site is currently offline, but I'm pleased to recommend a great alternative maintained by another Rubette guru Michele. Everything you wanted to know about the guys who brought us Sugar Baby Love and a string of other hits.  You might also like to visit the home page of Rubette's band member Mark Haley, or Pascale's site devoted to Rubette veteran John Richardson.

70s Preservation Society

Jim Thomas & Sweet Loretta kept the faith every Saturday Night on radio stations in Dallas with 70s Saturday Night, packed full of the best music from the greatest decade. You don't have to be in Dallas to hear the show because they have made a welcome return to the airwaves via the internet! Pop along to the 70s Preservation Society web site and listen via the Internet whilst you browse the goodies on their site.

Showaddywaddy Site - Speaking of good 70s bands that are still around, how about the makers of Under The Moon Of Love, Hey Rock n Roll and many others. Showaddywaddywebmaster Paul Fixter showers the Showaddywaddy fan with facts, figures, discographies and images - infact everything you could possibly want in connection with the guys in the drainpipe trousers ! 

The Sweet Internet Ballroom - Nice looking site devoted to a band that had just as much credibility as a classy rock band than as Glam kings.  Lots to see here including a lively message board.

Sparks Fanatics - Martin Truksa's one-stop website for the true Sparks Fanatic with informed reviews and trivia associated with this band who continue to command respect with everything they release.

Nostalgia Central :- If you like the Naff Caff, you'll love this site devoted to all things 70s. If you think you have a good memory of 70s TV/films/music and fads, pop along to this site and I'll bet webmaster David Turner will surprise you with details of those you forgot about ! And if that wasn't enough, he does the same for the 60s and 80s. A must see site !

K-Tel Classics -Until recently, Lisa "The K-Tel Chick" had a wonderful site devoted to her love and extensive knowledge of K-Tel collections. Unfortunately the powers that be seem to have got a little bit upset at what was actually a very positive and well loved site. In short, Lisa has taken down the site, but is working on a new one for record collectors which will be un-K-Tel related. Knowing Lisa, it's bound to be good and rest assured there will be a link to it as soon as it's up and running.

LP2CD - Experts in restoration of recordings.  If you want to convert your vinyl to CD, visit this site !

A great fan site with a heavy leaning to the original Smokie, Marybaby documents the history of the group that took the charts by storm in the 70s and keeps up to date with original member Alan Silson, his friends and their current successful projects.  Lots of great photos, articles and interviews.

Gerald's Lyrics Quiz Page - Subscribers to alt.music.lyrics will be familar with Gerald's excellent quiz. Well now it's on the WWW ! A chance to fill in your answers on-line, or you can e-mail Gerald after you've studied the questions. Either way, view your scores on the Web site as it is updated regularly.

JCV Website - Jeff Vagg's excellent tribute to the BBC UK Top 40 show, plus lots of trivia quizes to get your teeth into. 

Guys n' Dolls - Everyone remembers the boy and girl group that was so typically 70's pop.  Paul Griggs (the frizzy haired one !) tells his of the story of what it was like to be part of it.  This great site details of what he's up to now.  Has the frizzy hair survived ? You bet !

Mike's Radio Aircheck Site - Collectors of radio recordings must visit Mike's page.  He has an extensive list of tapes for exchange, the majority of which are rare.

Radio Maldwyn - Mid Wales' radio station - the way a radio station ought to sound. A great selection of oldies and only the best of the new.  If you live in the area, or you are just visiting, listen out on Wednesday evenings at 6pm for The Album Download presented by music guru Paul Kay who I can reveal has more than a passing interest in the 70s !.

www.satyagraha.co.uk - Visit the UK website for Chicago band Satyagraha, rapidly gaining respect on both sides of the water and featured extensively on Bob Harris' radio show.

8 Track Heaven: - If you're a young school student researching a 70s project, just one mention of the 8 track cartridge player will get you top marks - trust me ! Ask anyone who was there and they'll relate tales of romantic liaisons in cars with background music played on the in-car 8 track (which would no doubt change from Lay Lady Lay to Nellie The Elephant at a critical point - but less said about that...). Curious ? Visit this slice of true 70s nostalgia now !
